Origo Biosciences: Immunotherapeutics to combat chronic disease

Our First Market

Do you know your oxidized cholesterol level? What is your ratio of oxidized LDL to normal LDL?

What is the benefit of blocking the dietary sources of oxidized cholesterol in your diet? Can I lower oxidized cholesterol LDL in circulation? If so, what is the health benefit?

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death in the US and dietary sources of oxidized cholesterol contribute to coronary heart disease, not normal cholesterol.

Cardiovascular disease is responsible for more than 910,000 (37%) deaths 2003. More than 71 million Americans suffered from at least one type of CVD in 2003. Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the single biggest contributor to CVD mortality, affecting more than 13 million Americans, and killing nearly 480,000 Americans in 2003. CHD is caused by a narrowing of the coronary arteries that feed the heart, restricting essential supplies of oxygen and nutrients. This narrowing is caused by buildup of fatty plaques on the arterial wall, a process called atherosclerosis.

It begins with oxidized cholesterol and the formation of oxidized LDLs.

Origo believes that naturally-occurring antibodies to cholesterol will slow the development, if not prevent, atherosclerosis by blocking oxidized cholesterol build up.
